Appeals
Should a registration applicant disagree with the decision of the board concerning their registration result, it is possible to request an appeal. The appeals committee consists of three experienced and registered genetic counsellors who do are not members of the branch board and have not participated in the original portfolio assessment. The procedure for appeals is as follows:
- The candidate requests an appeal in writing, giving consent for all documentation of their registration to be shared with the appeals committee
- All documentation concerning the applicant including intention to register, plagiarism check, full portfolio, assessors comments (x3), and EBMG decision letter are transferred to the appeals committee
- The appeals committee responds in writing to the EBMG chair within 30 days with a decision, citing their reasons for their desicion
- The EBMG emails the appeals committee's letter to the candidate within 24 hours.
The appeals committee's decision is final and the EBMG abides by their decision.
